2005 Automated Multi-Channel Test and Lab Paneling Pricing
Pricing for automated multi-channel tests and organ or disease panels is based on the number of automated tests performed on the same day for the same patient. Duplicate tests will not be paid unless billed with a 91 modifier. Pricing examples include:
- If five individual automated tests are billed, payment is made based on five tests.
- If an organ and disease panel that includes 7 automated tests is billed with an individual automated test that is not included in the panel, payment is based on 8 tests.
- If an organ and disease panel that includes 7 automated tests is billed with an individual automated test that is included in the panel, payment will be made based on 7 tests.
- If two or more panel tests are billed that include duplicate individual tests, each duplicated test is paid only once. For example, if one panel includes 5 tests and the other includes 7 tests but one of the individual tests is included in both panels, payment will be based on 11 tests.
Pricing by number of tests below is effective for dates of service January 1, 2005 and after.
