1. How can I determine the status of a claim?
  Claim status can be determined by calling the WPS Medicare Interactive Voice Response (IVR) at:

2. Does the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) provide patient's information?
  Yes. The IVR requires the patient's Medicare number in order to provide patient's information.

3. If the IVR is available 24 hours a day, why do I receive a message that the option is not available when I check claim status?
  The IVR is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for general information. Claim status, eligibility, provider summary, check information, deductibles, and pricing, functions that require a provider number, are only available when the processing system is up. The hours vary by region, the core hours are Monday - Friday, 6:00am - 6:00pm CT and Saturday 7:00am - 12pm CT.

4. I sent a claim to WPS Medicare several months ago, and I do not recall receiving payment and/or a rejection from your office for this service. In order to satisfactorily adjust our records, we need to know the status of the claim/payment information. Could you please tell me the proper way to obtain this information?
  As you are probably aware, WPS Medicare does not verify claim status/payment information by telephone and/or written correspondence. The proper way to obtain claim status/payment information is through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system. In addition to claim status, providers can also check beneficiary eligibility including deductibles, pending and approved claims, check information, pricing information, and other general Medicare information. Directions for using the IVR are available on the WPS Medicare Website.
