Important - Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is Moving

Home Provider Part A Publications

Dear Medicare Legacy Trading Partner,

We're moving! Medicare Part A legacy Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is moving from the current Mutual of Omaha front-end to the WPS Insurance Corporation EDI front-end effective February 1, 2009. At that time, all electronic batch-trading partners will submit their files through the WPS Bulletin Board System (BBS), the AGNS network using secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP), or VisionShare.

All trading partners that will submit EDI claims directly to WPS will need to complete a self-registration process on our WPS Trading Partner System (WTPS) to prepare for transaction testing and production claim submission. WTPS is located at the following URL:
https://corp-ws.wpsic.com/apps/wtps-web/unauth/wtps.do

If your office currently submits EDI claims to WPS for other lines of business, you can continue to use the same submitter ID for your Part A legacy claims.

After registration has been completed on WTPS, we will send you the appropriate submitter ID and password information to connect to the WPS EDI front-end.

Trading partners without Internet access may register for EDI by contacting us at the toll-free number listed below.

If you are currently a legacy PC-Ace Pro32 User, you will not need to uninstall your current version of PC-Ace and install our WPS PC-Ace software version. However, you will need to install the PC-Ace custom upgrade. Please visit our Website at http://www.wpsmedicare.com/part_a/business/pcacepro32.shtml for instructions and the link to install this custom upgrade.

You can begin submitting test files to the WPS EDI front-end starting October 1, 2008, and begin submitting production files once approval is received from WPS.

For all legacy trading partners, excluding PCAce users who submit EDI claims directly to WPS, you or your clearinghouse or software vendor will need to make the necessary changes below before submitting claims through the WPS EDI front-end.

Transaction Data Element Required Data
837 claim files ISA-06 WPS assigned Submitter Id
837 claim filesGS-02 WPS assigned submitter Id

To ensure a successful migration, we strongly encourage your office to start testing now to avoid the rush. Early testing will ensure that your migration process is completed prior to the 2/1/2009 deadline.

Please contact our EDI team at 1-866-734-6656 with any EDI front-end migration related questions.
