Revised Implementation Date for Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) for Change Request (CR) 5667
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued CR 5667, Clarification of Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA) Billing Requirements Issued in CR 3811, on August 10, 2007, with an implementation date of October 1, 2007.
As a result of the clarification, the System Maintainer did not have the software available to implement the coding changes by October 1, 2007. Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs) and Part A and Part B Medicare Administrative Contractors (A/B MACs) have been instructed to implement this CR into production on November 5, 2007, and suspend claims in which Fiscal Intermediary Shared System (FISS) reason code 32811 has been assigned. These claims are to be held until CR 5667 is implemented into production.
