Meeting:
Jan Ervin facilitated the teleconference. The meeting was called to order at 2:00 PM ET.
The call began with introductions. I reminded the members that the main purpose of the Provider Outreach and Education Advisory Group (POE AG) is to suggest training topics for future provider education. In addition to the regional workshops, suggestions from the POE group can drive other educational activities such as Ask-the-Contractor Teleconference (ACT) topics and Computer-Based Training (CBT) subjects.
Group Input and Feedback:
Members were informed of upcoming seminars tentatively scheduled in the Southeast region. They did not have any additional topics for seminars at this time. When asked about locations all stated that travel is an issue and difficult to obtain for their employees as well as upper management at this time. A request for more webinars, ACTs, CBTs, etc. in place of face-to-face seminars was made. A request was made for more in-service type training. Per CMS Regulation, In-service Training is no longer allowed. There weren't any additional comments pertaining to the timing of seminars.
I went over a list of all ACT calls currently scheduled and asked if they had any additional topics they would like to see presented.
- 935 Demand Letter,
- Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) and PC ACE/Pro 32 or other software vendor.
Member Issues:
No issues were presented at this time.
Open Discussion:
An agenda topic was suggested asking for more information on the Recovery Audit Contractors (RACs). I explained that we have limited information on the RACs, and that RACs will be providing their own training.
- Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC)
- WPS Medicare is working with the RACs.
- WPS Medicare will adjust claims as given to us.
- Claims are subject to the 935 recoupment process.
