WPS Medicare Provider Outreach and Education (POE) Advisory Group Charter

The primary function of the POE Advisory Group is to assist the contractor in the creation, implementation, and review of provider education strategies and efforts. The Advisory Group provides input and feedback on training topics, provider education materials, and dates and locations of provider education workshops and events. This assures correct submission and processing of Medicare claims.

WPS Medicare and CMS designed the function of this Advisory Group to:

  • Reduce the Claims error rate
  • Reduce the need for Redetermination Requests
  • Reduce the Comprehensive Error Rate Testing (CERT) rate
  • Increase timely initial payment to providers

POE WPS Chairpersons commit:

  • To bring information on current trends WPS Medicare Part B experiences in claim denials, inquiries, requests for Redeterminations and the CERT Error Report
  • To seek the input and suggestions of the members on correct formats, venues, and information for educational materials
  • To provide feedback on the implementation of the suggestions and comment from the members
  • To bring suggestions on internal educational ideas to the Management staff

POE Advisory Committee Members commit:

  • To be a liaison with the wider provider community both in sharing and soliciting information on the current trends identified with the wider provider community
  • To attend all meetings and if unable to attend in person, a substitute is welcome
  • To provide suggestions on all educational material as requested

The collaboration between the POE Advisory Committee members and the POE Chairpersons is vital in accomplishing the stated goals. WPS Medicare appreciates the cooperation and time commitments from the POE Advisory Committee members.
