Using CSNAP to look up Remittance WO Recoupment Offset Information

Providers commonly call WPS Medicare to find out the withholding WO (overpayment recovery) details on a claim, such as date of service or beneficiary name. When an overpayment has been automatically recouped through the offset process, the claim will reflect with a WO PLB reason code on your remittance advice.

Did you know that you could use C-SNAP to look up the information?

First log into C-SNAP and select the link for Duplicate Remittance Advice (on Demand).

Provider Administration Home

Second, complete the required fields and in the ICN field type the WO FCN number from your remittance minus the first two digits and any letters that appear at the end of the number. After dropping the first two digits and any letters that appear at the end of the number, you should be left with a 13 digit ICN. If the numbers you are left with were more or less than 13, you would need to contact the Financial Department for assistance.

Duplicate Remittance Advice Search

Your remittance notice will be displayed and you can search for the ICN to locate the details of the WO recoupment information i.e. Patient Name and Date of Service (DOS).
