Claim Status Questions

WPS Medicare frequently receives telephone calls to our Provider Contact Center (PCC) or through written correspondence from providers, billing services, etc. requesting the status of a Medicare claim they filed to our office for processing. These requests are often referred to as "claim status requests" or "insurance tracers." Please note that WPS Medicare does not verify the status of a claim through telephone calls to the PCC or through written correspondence. However, WPS Medicare offers alternative resources, known as Self-Service Technology (SST) to providers, billing services, etc. for this type of information.

One SST resource is the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) telephone system. The IVR provides claim status information 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The IVR also allows you to access information on beneficiary eligibility, provider summary (payment) information, checks, deductibles, pricing, telephone numbers, addresses, and much more. For additional information on the IVR, please visit the IVR page.

Another resource is the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Secure Net Access Portal (C-SNAP). C-SNAP also provides claim status information, provider summary (payment) information, checks, duplicate remittance notices, deductibles, pricing, telephone numbers, addresses, and much more through a secured Internet Environment. You can also submit redetermination (appeal) requests directly to Medicare using C-SNAP. C-SNAP is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional information on C-SNAP, please visit the C-SNAP page.
