What Is A Local Coverage Determination (LCD)? adobe portable format document

The WPS Medicare Local Policies Web Page, available within the left hand navigation bar, allows you to access a significant amount of information regarding local policies and the policy process. Within this page, you will find information including an all inclusive list of WPS Medicare's J5 LCDs. From this list, you are able to retrieve specific information enabling you to further search the LCD via the CMS Coverage Database. You may also access Local Policies by state or LCDs prior to cutover to WPS. A formal request to revise a Local Policy can be made through the Reconsideration Process.

The WPS Medicare National Policies Web Page, available within the left hand navigation bar, provides a resource to learn why NCDs are developed and where you can find one. This page also provides a special link to the NCD for Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents (ESAs) in Cancer and Related Neoplastic Conditions, as well as the associated coding and billing guidelines. NCDs apply to all jurisdictions.
