Cost Report Reopening Notices

FY 2006 SSI Ratios

On April 6, 2011, WPS issued cost report reopening notices to hospitals whose cost reports were final settled using the fiscal year 2006 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) ratios. The great majority of these final settlements pertain to cost reporting periods beginning on or after October 1, 2005 and before October 1, 2006. The reason for the reopenings is to revise the Medicare-SSI fraction in the disproportionate share hospital (DSH) calculation to ensure the accurate inclusion of Medicare Advantage data submitted by hospitals. The affected cost reports will remain in reopening status until CMS publishes the revised SSI ratios that include the Medicare Advantage data.
