Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corporation (WPS) has administered Medicare contracts since 1966, more than 46 continuous years of service to the Medicare program and its providers and beneficiaries. Our current Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) contracts include:

  • Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Jurisdiction 5 (J5) contract-providing both Part A and Part B Medicare benefit administration for Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska
  • Medicare Administrative Contractor (MAC) Jurisdiction 8 (J8) contract-providing both Part A and Part B Medicare benefit administration for Indiana and Michigan
  • Legacy Medicare Part A contract-providing Part A benefit administration for all states except Delaware, Hawaii, and New York
  • Legacy Medicare Part B contract-providing Part B benefit administration for Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota
  • Part D Coverage Gap Payments contract-a health care reform initiative that provided the approximately four million beneficiaries who reached the 'doughnut hole' with nearly $1 billion in benefits

  • Holds the first contractor Authority to Operate (ATO) from CMS, which means we have appropriate security controls in place to safeguard CMS information systems and data
